The balance of dark and light is again threatened in Ersetu. The land of Aurderia is at the center of the struggle between the forces aligned with the dark, and the rest of the world. Shuran’s father is missing and his best friend, Bastien, has been possessed. Shuran fights against the darkness of the Order of Chaos in an effort to find a way to balance the Essence of Ersetu. In Durangug, Shuran and the Zidu’Si gather to gain knowledge and understanding of their part in this prophecy. While the Zidu’Si research to locate the three remaining races of man, Shuran explores a hidden chamber within the Vault. Witches and dark wizards align with chaos and some ancient enemies change sides in a quest for survival.

Shuran and Moltar alter the magic of dragons through their unique bond of elemental magic.
There are references based loosely on ancient Sumerian mythology and writing not meant to appear historical in nature. This is a book of pure fiction and not intended accurately represent Sumerian history.

River of Souls is a nice continuation from the first book. You can see the author's writing style grow from the last book to this one. I didn't notice a lot of errors, but there were a few present. Shuran and his group continues to grow and get stronger, occasionally in leaps and bounds. We get a few new characters in this book, and they are all fun and interesting(to me at least). I almost gave this four stars, but I enjoy the story enough thus far to still rate it a five star review. If you liked the first book, I think you will love this one, if you had a lot of complaints about the first book, you may or may not like this one.P.S. I received this for free in exchange for a review(But had already read the first and will be buying the third).

After reading the first book, I was excited to pick up the second and get started on another fun read. I found myself spending all my spare time reading the book and enjoyed seeing the characters developed as they progressed on their quest. There's just the right amount of plot twists and surprises. I find myself anxiously awaiting book three now!
I found this book and the previous one to be great. Even though most of it you have read before in other books, it is sometimes just good to sit down and read a book that doesn't require too much thought.
I found the characters to be believable and likeable, with the story have a reasonable pace without any boring scene setting sections.
I did come across a few minor formatting issues - nothing too major just a few missed letters.
I started the first one thinking I would just have a quick read, and ending up spending the day reading both books. Only thing i really dislike is waiting until the end of the year to finish the series.
Overall, if you are looking to escape into what i term "old school" fantasy for a brief period then you have found your book.
